Hollywood's success with movies each year is symbolic of a roller-coaster: high points and low points. I feel the last few years have been "low points" with very few movies really piquing my interest. But now they seem to be on the rise--if not at their peak--once again.
This summer marks some incredible movie releases which are sure to be blockbuster hits (unless they flunk at the box office, but seeing as they are "major" movies, they will really have to mess up badly).
I feel a great need to start a list of these epic movies, since trying to keep release dates straight is starting to overwhelm my brain. The following are a list of movies I plan to see this summer (right around the release date if at all possible):
First of all, I should say, I just barely saw Avengers this last weekend. I know, I know. It has been out a while, but with school going on I honestly didn't have the time or the energy (see previous post).
Now, for the rest of the summer:
Currently in theaters
Men In Black 3
Snow White and the Huntsman
(**I have heard mixed reviews on this movie, and I might wait until it gets to the "cheap" theater, but I do want to see it just for the fact that it does have mixed reviews, and perhaps it is better than I realize.)
June 8th
Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted
June 22nd
Disney / Pixar's Brave
July 3rd
The Amazing Spider-man
(**I originally was NOT going to see this movie--thinking it was nothing more than a re-telling of the original, but thanks to a friend, I quickly realized that was NOT true. This looks GREAT!)
July 13th
Ice Age: Continental Drift
July 20th
The Dark Knight Rises
So, my summer (and a good chunk of my paycheck) will be spent watching movies it sounds like. WAHOO! What a great way to spend a summer: Reading and watching movies! =D
Now, I might as well tell you what I am looking forward to later in the year:
September 28th
Hotel Transylvania
(**This has the potential to be really funny or terrible. We shall see.)
November 2nd
Wreck-It Ralph
(**This just looks plain funny! Bowser is in a Disney movie!! YAY for movies with Nintendo characters!)
November 16th
Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2
(**BEFORE YOU JUDGE ME, the ONLY reason I'm seeing this is because I want to know how they end it. Part 1 left me feeling HORRIBLE and I NEVER plan to see that awful movie ever again. It was HORRIBLE! But now that I know the worst of it is over, seeing the conclusion of the series will be interesting... though I won't be going to see this until December... let the "Twihards" get their fill first.)
November 21st
Life of Pi
(**No rating is out yet, but this would be an interesting movie to see! I didn't know they were making this book into a movie!)
Rise of the Guardians
(YAY for a Santa with tatoos and an Easter Bunny that has egg bombs! This will simply be a funny, different movie. Something that I have not seen done before.)
December 14th
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
(SOOOOOOO excited!!!! I probably should read the book first...)
Les Miserables
(**This is going to be GOOD!!)
So, I don't know about you, but it seems that Hollywood is coming out of a slump!
